在发育过程中，胶原蛋白IV普遍分布在BM中。 在成熟过程中，该网状纤维以显著的组织特异性方式被部分替换，从而定义BM结构和功能。 胶原蛋白IV可以结合血小板、肝细胞、角质形成细胞、内皮细胞、肾小球膜细胞、胰腺细胞以及一些肿瘤细胞。
Preparation Note
本品为冻干粉末，能够以1 mg/mL的浓度重悬于无菌的.5 M乙酸、PBS或水中。 PBS能够在-20℃情况下稳定保存至少一年。它是通过改良版 Glanville, R.W., et al胃蛋白酶提取蛋白制备的。
Analysis Note
SDS聚丙烯酰胺凝胶电泳在和基底膜胶原蛋白相同的还原条件下测试，得到三条主要条带。
Other Notes
所有胶原蛋白分子均由以三螺旋构象排列的三条肽链组成，其一级结构主要以三个氨基酸作为重复基序，即每隔两个氨基酸是一个甘氨酸残基，其前面的两个位置通常为脯氨酸或4-羟基脯氨酸。 IV型胶原仅存在于基底膜中，并含有多达六条基因不同的a链。
胶原蛋白被分为许多种结构和遗传性不同的类型。 我们使用 Bornstein和Traub提出的系统命名法。 小心不要混淆Sigma命名系统和通用的胶原蛋白分类类型。
