General description
Antibody format: IgG
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is a widely expressed serum antibody. It is part of the immunoglobulin family and consists of a gamma (γ) heavy chain in the constant (C) region. The monomeric 150kDa structure of IgG constitutes two identical heavy chains and two identical light chains with molecular weight of 50kDa and 25kDa, respectively. The primary structure of this antibody also contains disulfide bonds involved in linking the two heavy chains, linking the heavy and light chains and resides inside the chains. IgG is further subdivided into four classes namely, IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4 with different heavy chains, named γ1, γ2, γ3, and γ4, respectively. Immunoglobulin M (IgM) exists as a pentamer in the serum and has a high molecular weight. Monomeric IgM has a molecular weight of 190kDa. The pentameric IgM consists of ten μ-heavy chains, ten light chains and a single J-chain which is linked by disulphide bonds. The μ -chain consists of five domains- VH, Cμ1, Cμ2, Cμ3 and Cμ4. Immunoglobulin A (IgA) is found as two subclasses, that is, IgA1 and IgA2. IgA1 has an extended hinge because of the insertion of a duplicated stretch of amino acids, whereas IgA2 lacks this. IgA exists as a monomer or dimer in the secreted form. Dimeric IgA has a molecular weight of 390kDa. This antibody can form multimers and its polymerization is essential for transport across epithelia. IgA is crucial as the first line of defence and has an important role in mucosal immunity.

Biochem/physiol Actions
This product was prepared from polyspecific antiserum by immunoaffinity chromatography using antigens coupled to agarose beads followed by cross adsorptions to remove unwanted specificities. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against Anti-Fluorescein, Anti-Goat Serum, Mouse IgG, Mouse IgA and Mouse IgM. No reaction was obserbed against Bovine, Horse or Human Serum Proteins. This reagent is suitable for the detection of all Mouse isotypes and chain combinations.

Supplied in 0.02 M Potassium Phosphate, 0.15 M Sodium Chloride, pH 7.2 with 10 mg/mL Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) - Immunoglobulin and Protease free
