General description

LRRC37B (leucine rich repeat containing 37B) gene is localized to human chromosome 17q. The encoded protein contains LRR motifs in the N-terminal, which are responsible for protein-ligand binding. This protein has predicted 947 amino acids, and a putative molecular weight of 106kDa. This protein is transmembrane, and spans the membrane once. Its C-terminal is cytoplasmic in nature. It is expressed in testis, fetal brain, cerebellum, thymus and spleen.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The function of LRRC37B (leucine rich repeat containing 37B) is not well understood. However, studies in HeLa cells show that the expression of this protein results in filopodia-like protrusion formation and changes in cell shape.
