Clone REA658 recognizes the human carbonic anhydrase IX, a single-pass type I integral membrane protein detected in HeLa cells and in different human carcinomas. This tumor-associated isoenzyme is also expressed on the surface microvilli and in the nucleus. Carbonic anhydrase IX, also known as CAIX, CA9, or MN, is a member of the alpha-carbonic anhydrase family that catalyze the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. It may plays a role in the control of cell proliferation and transformation and seems to be a novel specific biomarker for identifying cervical dysplasia and carcinoma. Carbonic anhydrases participate in a variety of biological processes.
Additional information: Clone REA658 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
