General description
JAK2 (janus kinase 2) encodes a tyrosine kinase. It belongs to the the Jak family of protein. It is located on chromosome 9p24.
Plays a role in leptin signaling and control of body weight.

Biochem/physiol Actions
JAK2 (janus kinase 2) plays an important role in the activities of cytokines receptors. Overexpression of JAK2 results in neuroblastoma. JAK2 mutations promote primary resistance to PD-1 (anti-programmed death protein 1) blockade therapy.
