Clone REAL1328 is an antibody fragment derived from the full S100B antibody molecule. It displays no binding to Fc receptors. The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAdye_lease Complex to bind markers with high avidity.
Clone REAL1328 recognizes the human and mouse S100B protein which controls the activation of Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), polymerization of tubulin and DNA repair. S100B is a neurotrophic factor and neuronal survival protein and is involved in neurite extension, stimulation of Ca2+ fluxes, inhibition of PKC-mediated phosphorylation, astrocytosis and axonal proliferation, and inhibition of microtubule assembly. It is expressed in mature astrocytes of the brain, but also found in a variety of other cell types such as T lymphocytes, monocytes, and platelets. S100B is used as a biomarker for neurological disorders: acute brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis), congenital/perinatal disorders (Down syndrome, spinocerebellar ataxia-1) and psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia, mood disorders) .
For removal of REAdye_lease fluorochromes for optional relabeling with different fluorochrome-conjugated REAdye_lease antibodies use the REAlease Support Kit (130-120-675).
